Mathew Snyder

Founder & Owner

Mathew Snyder knows firsthand how unaddressed trauma can ripple through generations. Raised in a home marked by mental illness, addiction, and violence, he witnessed the devastating effects of poverty, mental health issues, substance use, and suicide.

Growing up in Oregon during the rise of meth and opioid abuse, he lost friends to addiction, accidents, and self-harm. By the time he reached his teens, he had already lived through more adversity than most do in a lifetime.

Seeking a way out, he joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served two tours in Iraq. But war left its own scars. After returning to civilian life, he pursued healing, seeking help from the VA for PTSD, anxiety, and depression. He put his GI Bill to work, first training in massage therapy and later earning a BS in Computer Science from Southern Oregon University.

Through it all, Mathew never stopped thinking about prevention—how to break the cycles of trauma, addiction, and loss. The COVID-19 pandemic was a turning point. Seeing firsthand how disruptions in the supply chain endangered lives, he realized that if safe medication storage wasn’t made widely accessible, more children would die—needlessly, preventably, inside their own homes.

In 2021, he founded RemedyGuard to tackle the problem head-on. Medication lock boxes aren’t just a product to him—they’re a mission. He believes real change comes from activating parents, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to secure lethal means before tragedy strikes. Through coalition-building, public health advocacy, and direct action, he works to turn awareness into lasting change.

When he’s not pushing for stronger prevention efforts, Mathew enjoys a good Steam sale and engaging in conversations on Bluesky, where he connects with like-minded advocates, public health professionals, and those fighting for a safer future.
